Scouting the Rangers:
Kitchener has been dominating the league leaderboards as the top three in points remain Rangers. Hunter Brzustewicz (Vancouver) has earned Defenseman of the Month for October having a 5-20-25 stat line which also makes him the leading point getter in the league. Brzustewicz was also named to the CHL Team of the Month for his performance this month. There wasn’t one game in October that Brzustewicz did not record a point in. He looks to bring his point streak of 12 games into November.
Carson Rehkopf (Seattle) was named the OHL Player of the Month for October as well as named to the CHL Team of the Month. Rehkopf leads the league with 14 goals and is next in line behind Brzustewicz for points in the league with 23. Despite his stellar month, Rehkopf broke his eight-game point streak against Owen Sound on Saturday.
The Kitchener native and Rangers’ veteran Matthew Sop is playing in his 150th OHL game on Thursday in Windsor. Sop has been a key player for the Rangers over the last four seasons. Over his 149 games played Sop has registered 41 goals, and 60 assists for 101 points. This season Sop is ranked as the third top point-getter in the league with 22 points (8G, 14A). Sop is currently on an eight-game point streak which began on October 13th against Barrie. He has tallied an impressive seven goals and 10 assists for 17 points through those eight games.
First-year forward Tanner Lam has produced one goal and three assists in the past three games and a total of nine points (2G, 7A) through his first 13 OHL games. He is currently ranked fourth in the league for rookie scoring.
