FINAL: Rangers 5, Spitfires 7
After a very successful weekend, the Kitchener Rangers were back on the road to face off with the Windsor Spitfires. The Rangers were looking to keep the momentum going and win their 4th straight game.
Windsor was pressuring the Rangers hard early in the game, but Pavel Cajan was ready to play. Windsor scored five minutes into the period to get out to the 1-0 lead. Just over a minute later, Adam Zidlicky received a nice pass from Carson Rehkopf for a tap-in goal and tied the game 1-1. Windsor immediately responded, regaining their one-goal lead, 2-1. Both teams would exchange powerplay opportunities but neither could capitalize.
49 seconds into the period, Windsor scored on a breakaway to make it 3-1. Two minutes after the Windsor goal, Navrin Mutter tipped in a point shot to get the Rangers back within one goal. Windsor was given their second powerplay of the game and was able to capitalize on this chance, extending their lead to 4-2. Jacob LeBlanc fired home a shot from the point to make the game 4-3 with seven minutes remaining in the period. The Rangers looked to tie the game in the 3rd.
Four minutes into the period, Windsor capitalized on a point shot, making it 5-3. 17 seconds later, Mitchell Martin scored his 15th goal of the season which brought the Rangers within one goal for the third time. Joseph Serpa tapped in a rebound past Windsor’s Mathias Onuska to tie the game 5-5. Windsor earned a powerplay chance but the Rangers penalty-killing unit was successful. Late in the period, Windsor scored on a scramble to make it 6-5. They would add an empty-net goal to win the game 7-5.
