FINAL: Rangers 4, Otters 3
The Kitchener Rangers faced off with The Erie Otters at The Aud on Friday, March 18th. This was the third visit for Erie this season, as the Rangers looked to earn important points towards the goal of clinching a playoff spot.
Carson Rehkopf takes a penalty early on in the first period for high sticking, but the Rangers kill it off as Pavel Cajan makes two great saves. The Erie Otters struck first at 9:25 into the 1st period (Brett Bressette scores. Assists: Brendan Hoffmann, Cameron Morton) and would go on to score another to make it 2-0 with 8 minutes left in the period (Noah Sedore scores. Assists: Connor Lockhart). The first Rangers powerplay occurs shortly after the Erie goal but they can’t capitalize on it. The Rangers answered back before the end of the first, with a goal from Joseph Serpa (Assists: Francesco Pinelli, Justin Nolet).
The second begins with lots of chances for the Blueshirts, and they are able to pot one in with a pass from Ty Hollett to Andrew LeBlanc to tie the game (Also assisted by Joseph Serpa). A. LeBlanc doesn’t stop with the one goal as he pots his second to give the Rangers a 3-2 lead at the end of the period (Assists Joseph Serpa, Mitchell Martin).
The third period sees lots of back and forth action as both teams have a lot of opportunities to score. Pavel Cajan continues to shine in the third and keeps the game 3-2 Rangers early in the period. The Otters score off of a fluke pass to tie the game (Brendan Hoffmann scores. Assists: Daniel D’Amato, Cameron Morton shorthanded), but the Rangers responded quickly after to give them the lead and the win (Justin Nolet (8) scores. Assists: Mitchell Martin, Francesco Pinelli).
Our next game is this Sunday at The Aud as we take on The Guelph Storm at 2pm. Tickets are available, and the Kitchener Rangers will be holding a free vaccine clinic in the subscribers lounge during the game.
