FINAL: Rangers 3, Attack 2
The Kitchener Rangers welcomed The Owen Sound Attack to The Aud for a second time in a week. We were looking to build off our win in Sarnia on Sunday afternoon.
Three minutes into the game, Reid Valade scored his 11th goal of the season, giving the Rangers an early 1-0 lead. Two minutes later, Owen Sound scored to tie the game 1-1. Both teams were given powerplay opportunities and neither capitalized with the man advantage. Just after the Rangers powerplay, Mike Petizian jumped on a rebound and scored to make it 2-1 Rangers. We would look to build off the lead in the 2nd.
Matthew Sop scored early in the period to extend our lead to 3-1. The Rangers were given a four-minute powerplay due to a high stick but were unable to extend the lead further. With five minutes remaining in the 2nd, Jackson Parsons was pulled out of the game due to an injury. Marcus Vandenberg came in, making it his OHL debut. We hoped to continue playing well in front of the new netminder through the 3rd.
Midway through the period, the score remained 3-1 for the Rangers. Owen Sound capitalized on an opportunity, making it 3-2. The Rangers would hold on to win by a final score of 3-2 and Marcus Vandenberg earned his first win in the OHL.
Our next home game is Friday, February 4th at 7:30 pm against The Flint Firebirds.
