FINAL (OT): Rangers 3, Otters 4
The Kitchener Rangers headed across the border to take on The Erie Otters for the first of back-to-back games. Both games are vital for the Rangers as they’re ahead of the Otters in the playoff race.
Erie opened the scoring four minutes into the game, making it 1-0. Navrin Mutter took a roughing penalty which resulted in an Erie powerplay goal, as they extended their lead to 2-0. After the media timeout, the Rangers carried the momentum. Mike Petizian banked one in off Erie’s Nolan Lalonde and made it 2-1. Less than a minute later, Adrian Misaljevic scored his first OHL goal off a tap-in and tied the game 2-2.
In the 2nd period, both teams had their fair share of chances but neither capitalized. Erie scored with four minutes remaining to regain the lead 3-2. The Rangers looked to make a comeback in the 3rd.
Six minutes into the period, Adrian Misaljevic scored his second goal to tie the game 3-3. After the Misaljevic goal, the Rangers were pressuring the Otters hard but could not get one past Lalonde. Regulation would solve nothing as overtime was needed. Erie would score with just over a minute remaining in overtime to win 4-3.
We have a rematch with the Otters on Sunday, April 3rd, at 2:00 p.m.
