Final Day of 2017 Rangers Spring Camp
The final day of Kitchener Rangers’ 2017 Spring Camp consisted of a single game between Team White and Team Blue, with all players divided amongst the two teams as opposed to the original three; Team Landeskog, Team Skinner and Team Gibson.
Team White erased two deficits but couldn’t battle back from a third, as Team Blue skated to a 5-3 win in the weekend’s final game.
Team Blue opened the game’s scoring at the 5:23 mark of the first period as Reggie Millette etched the scoresheet, assisted by Riley Damiani and Mike Petizian, to make it 1-0.
Just under five minutes later the game was tied, as Zac Sirota from Brayden Patricia tallied for Team White to made it 1-1.
A pair of quick goals once again gave Team Blue the lead; first a shot by Damiani at 14:43 with Petizian picking up the helper, then Petizian himself capitalizing just ten seconds later, from Damiani and Moses Acee at 14:53, to make it 3-1.
Ryan Mahshie rounded out first period scoring to cut Team Blue’s lead to 3-2, from Matt Gordon and Brayden Patricia, at 18:42.
Team White came all the way back to make it a 3-3 game just 3:58 into the second period, as Sirota tallied his second of the day, from Eric Guest and Ashton Stockie.
Team Blue would once again respond with Damiani’s second of the game – the eventual game winner – from Millette and Matt Doyle to take a 4-3 lead at 5:22.
They extended their lead to 5-3 on a goal by Liam Peyton, from Kobe Desmond and Ian Vucko, at 19:02 to round out the game’s scoring.
Connor Hasley (1st period) and Anthony Tremonte (2nd period) manned goal for Team White, while Doug Connor (1st period) and Jacob Hearne (2nd period) were between the pipes for Team Blue.
The game consisted of two-25 minute, stop-time periods.
