Calgary Flames Sign Hunter Brzustewicz to Three-Year Entry-Level Contract
Kitchener, ON – The Calgary Flames announced on March 14th that Rangers defender Hunter Brzustewicz has signed a three-year entry-level contract with the club.
Brzustewicz was drafted in the third round, 75th overall by the Vancouver Canucks in the 2023 NHL draft before being acquired by the Flames on January 31st.
The Rangers blueliner has been having a career year having skated in 62 games and registering 12 goals and 73 assists for 85 points. He is only eight points shy of breaking the Rangers’ record for most points by a defenceman in a single season.
The 6’0, 190-pound Michigan native is in his second season with the Rangers after being traded from the Barrie Colts in January 2022. Brzustewicz committed to the Rangers while being heavily recruited with NCAA options. He previously spent two seasons with the United States National Team Development Program (USNTDP) where he recorded 29 points (2G, 27A) and added an impressive plus-30 rating in 80 games-played on the blueline.
