Warm-up jerseys worn by Rangers players generate over $4,000
The Kitchener Rangers Hockey Club and Sun Life Financial are pleased to announce that over $4,000 was raised during the Kids In Gear Pre-Game Worn Jersey Auction held from Wednesday, April 3, to Friday April 12, 2013. All proceeds will be donated to the Sun Life Financial Kids In Gear program.
“As a proud supporter of the Kitchener Rangers and the Kids In Gear program, we are thrilled that the proceeds from this auction will help more children in the local community become active in the sport of hockey,” said Bill Ramsammy, Assistant Vice-President, Corporate Brand & Marketing, Sun Life Financial.
“Our players and organization are always happy to contribute to worthy causes that help our community,” said Steve Spott, Head Coach and General Manager, Kitchener Rangers Hockey Club.
Bidding started at $100 for each jersey and steadily increased over the ten day auction. The winning bidders took home their favourite Rangers’ warm-up jersey from the 2012-13 season, autographed by the player. Ten players’ sweaters were auctioned off, including captain Ryan Murphy, co-MVP winners Matt Puempel and Ben Fanelli, goaltender John Gibson and Rookie of the Year Justin Bailey.
The Sun Life Financial Kids In Gear program assists with the collection and purchase of hockey equipment for youth who require support in order to play our national game. It’s about giving back to the game we all love to play. Monetary proceeds also go to Donna’s Kids, a program run by the Kitchener Minor Hockey Association.
