FINAL: Rangers 4, Knights 2
The Kitchener Rangers welcomed The London Knights to The Aud for the 5th and final time this regular season. The Rangers were looking to build off a big weekend, getting all possible four points.
Seven minutes into the game, Pavel Cajan played the puck outside of the trapezoid, which resulted in a delay of game penalty. Reid Valade got a lucky bounce and scored shorthanded on a breakaway to give the Rangers a 1-0 lead. Just after, Kitchener was given a four-minute powerplay as Adrian Misaljevic was on the receiving end of a high-stick. They did not capitalize on the opportunity but took a 1-0 lead into the 2nd period.
Three minutes in, Joseph Serpa dangled his way through two London defenders to score and extend the lead to 2-0. Mike Petizian tapped in a rebound off a wrap-around play, making it 3-0 midway through the period. Late in the period, London got on the board to make the game 3-1.
London added another early in the 3rd period, making it 3-2. Pavel Cajan continued his stellar play, helping keep his team in the lead. With four minutes remaining, Kitchener was given a bench minor for too many men but were able to kill it off. With 54 seconds remaining in the game, Reid Valade was on his way to score an empty-net goal when he was tripped from behind. Due to this, he was awarded the goal automatically and gave the Rangers a 4-2 lead.
Reid Valade earned his 100th career OHL point and Pavel Cajan stopped 37 of 39 shots to secure the victory for the Rangers.
Our next game is Friday, March 11th, at 7:07 p.m. in The Soo.
