Rangers prepare for draft. Priority Selection slated for May 4th.
The 2002 OHL Priority Selection Draft will once again take place live on the internet Saturday, May 4th . The fifteen round affair begins at 9:00 am.

The #1 overall selection will again go to the Mississauga IceDogs who used their pick last year to select probable OHL Rookie of the Year Patrick O’Sullivan. The Rangers will make their first of 18 total picks beginning with the 12th overall selection.

The 2002 Draft also marks the first for coaches Peter DeBoer and Steve Spott as members of the Kitchener Rangers.

“Our scouting staff has worked hard all season. We are looking forward to welcoming 18 new Rangers prospects to Kitchener,” said Rangers head coach/general manager Peter DeBoer.

Last years #1 pick yielded C Mike Richards who contributed offensively with 58 points including 20 goals. “It is exciting for Pete and I to start putting the foundation together for our future teams here in Kitchener,” noted assistant coach Steve Spott.
