12 THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE TONIGHT’S GAME

1) Today marks the second of two meetings between the Kitchener Rangers and North Bay Battalion this season, and the lone visit to the Aud by the Battalion. The Rangers won the first meeting between the two teams at the North Bay Memorial Gardens on September 30th, 6-3.
2) The Kitchener Rangers boast the league’s third best home power play, executing at 24.7%. Their 25 goals at home on the power play are second most in the OHL. Kitchener’s home PK has improved slightly to 10th at 83.7%.
3) The Battalion are ranked 15th on road PP at 14.5%, while coming in 15th on the penalty kill on the road (78.5%).
4) The only other time the Rangers were shutout this season (3-0 loss to OS), they responded with a 5-3 win over Erie in their next game.
5) The last time the Battalion earned a win at the Aud was a 5-1 victory on February 27th, 2015. Current Battalion forward Brett McKenzie scored a goal in the game.
6) The Battalion’s Steve Harland is currently on a five-game point streak, registering eight points (2G, 6A).
7) The Battalion are fighting a bout of bad fortune in the third periods of their previous two games. They led the Peterborough Petes 3-0 heading into the third period on Saturday, only to fall 5-3. They were tied 3-3 with the Saginaw Spirit on Sunday, but surrendered three goals in the third to fall 6-3.
8) After missing the Rangers’ last two games due to injury, Kitchener leading scorer Adam Mascherin will return to the lineup tonight.
9) Kitchener has scored the game’s opening goal in 27 of 46 games this season, going 18-9 in that span. They are 8-11 when allowing the first goal of the game. North Bay has a record of 9-9 when scoring first. They are 9-18 when allowing the first goal.
10) The Battalion have trailed going into third period action 25 times, but have come back to win in seven of those games. The Rangers have taken a lead into the third period 21 times this season, surrendering just two of those games.
11) The Battalion are 1-7-0-0 vs. the Midwest Division this season. The Rangers are 5-2-0-0 vs. Central Division teams.
