2009 OHL Priority Selection
The 2009 OHL Priority Selection will take place live online on Saturday May 2, 2009 beginning at 9:00am.
The Kitchener Rangers have the third overall pick in the 2009 Priority Selection and will announce their pick on Friday May 2, 2009. Stay tuned to www.ontariohockeyleague.com on Saturday May 2, 2009, for a live draft show complete with live selection announcements, player previews, team overviews, as well as live and phone interviews with both players and team personnel.

The draft order is based on reverse order of the overall regular season standings.
2008 OHL Priority Selection Review:
301 minor midget-aged players were selected, including John McFarland of the Toronto Jr. Canadiens, who was the first overall pick of the Sudbury Wolves. Elgin-Middlesex Chiefs’ teammates Gregg McKegg (Erie Otters) and Steven Shipley (Owen Sound Attack) were the next two picks followed by Erik Gudbranson of the Ottawa Jr. 67’s to the Kingston Frontenacs. The Peterborough Petes selected Ryan Spooner from the Ottawa Jr. Senators fifth overall.
Ryan O’Connor (sixth overall to the Barrie Colts), Tyler Toffoli (seventh overall to the Ottawa 67’s), Devante Smith-Pelly (eighth overall to the Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors) and Cody McNaughton (12th overall to the Guelph Storm) were also selected in the first round from the Jr. Canadiens, who won the OHL Cup Showcase Tournament in March.
The Canadiens led the way with 14 players selected during the 15 round process. The Toronto Marlies, who finished second at the OHL Cup were next with 11 players selected. The Elgin-Middlesex Chiefs had 10 players selected while the Toronto Red Wings and York Simcoe Express each had nine players selected.
Jack Ferguson Award History
The "Fergie" is presented annually to the player selected first overall in the Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection. The award recognizes the dedication and contributions made by Jack Ferguson during his 25 year association with the Ontario Hockey League, first as a scout with the Ottawa 67’s and followed by his appointment as head of the OHL’s Central Scouting Bureau in 1981 as its Director of Central Scouting.
