Otters sign goaltender Devin Williams
The Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League have announced that goaltender Devin Williams has agreed to a contract with the team. The announcement was made by Otters general manager Sherry Bassin.
Williams was drafted by the Otters in the fifth round (95th overall) of the 2011 OHL Priority Selection. This season with the Metro Jets of the NA3HL, Williams is 6-2-0 with a 3.34 goals-against-average and .911 save percentage.
Born on October 30, 1995 in Saginaw, Mich., Williams backstopped the United States to a gold medal at the Five Nations Tournament during the summer. Williams will be eligible for the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.
“He’s extremely athletic and very dedicated,” Bassin said. “We think this signing will solidify our goaltending for the future.”
The Otters are scheduled to play at home tonight against the Plymouth Whalers and Saturday night against the Ottawa 67’s. Both games start at 7:00 p.m.
Hockey for the Hungry returns Wednesday, October 26 at 7:00 p.m. when the Otters host the Niagara IceDogs. Bring a non-perishable food item to the game and get in for just $2.00.
