Cernak Commits to Otters, Debuts in Owen Sound
Erie, Pennsylvania – Erie Otters General Manager Dave Brown announced today that first round CHL Import Draft selection Erik Cernak has been assigned to the team by the Los Angeles Kings.
Cernak, a 6’-3”, 203-pound defenseman, was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings 43rd overall in the second round of the 2015 NHL Draft. The Kosice, Slovakia native tallied five goals and eight assists in 43 contests with HC Kosice last year.
Internationally Cernak has competed with Slovakia’s national junior team at the past two IIHF World Junior Championships, winning a bronze medal in 2015. He also played with Slovakia’s Under-18 team at the 2013 and 2014 IIHF World Junior Championships, serving as the team’s captain in 2014.

Erie Otters General Manager Dave Brown announced today that first round CHL Import Draft selection Erik Cernak has committed to the Erie Otters and agreed to an OHL standard player agreement.
Cernak, a 6’-3”, 203-pound defenseman, was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings 43rd overall in the second round of the 2015 NHL Draft. The Kosice, Slovakia native was assigned to the Erie Otters on Tuesday, October 28th by Los Angeles and will make his OHL debut in Owen Sound Wednesday night.
