NWPA AHEC WEEKEND PREVIEW: Bears, Beers, and Family Fun Close November
Erie, Pennsylvania – It’s the holiday week and there’s no better place to spend it than at the Erie Insurance Arena!
On Wednesday, get your family excited for Turkey Day and watch your Erie Otters take on the Owen Sound Attack at 7 P.M. After enjoying time good food and better company, the Otters will play the Flint Firebirds on Saturday night for the first time at home.

LAST TIME OUT
The Otters brought home four of six possible points and scored a total of 13 goals on the week.
On Wednesday against the Brampton Steelheads, the Otters put on a clinic and downed the visitors 7-4. Against the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds on Friday, Erie battled through a tense first and second period before pulling away with a 6-3 victory. Saturday against the Kitchener Rangers saw the Otters fall 4-0.
With the weekend’s results, the Erie Otters move to 4-1 at home in the month of November.
WHO TO WATCH
First OHL game, first OHL goal – welcome to Erie Callum Hughes! The Boston University commit played his first game as an Otter on Friday and made a big impact! The 6’1 forward gave the Otters their first lead of the night on Friday against the Soo Greyhounds and helped swing the game’s momentum to the home team and propel the Otters towards a 6-3 victory. With his first goal and an assist in the final five seconds of the game, Hughes fits in just fine in the OHL.
The Big Rig came in hot this weekend! Sam Alfano put up big numbers in the week’s three games with a hat trick and three assists across three games. Against the Brampton Steelheads, Alfano scored late in the first frame and two back-to-back goals in the third to complete his hatty and assist on the game-winner. On Friday, Alfano helped pull the Otters ahead with back-to-back assists on both the game-winner and the insurance goal to lock in the Otters’ victory.
KNOW THE FOE
The Owen Sound Attack lost four of their last five games, with their last three losses all being with a final score of 4-3. Players to watch for the Attack include Sam McCue with six goals and one assist in his last six games, and Landen Hookey, who has contributed six assists in the last four games.
The Flint Firebirds took home two losses last weekend, an 8-1 defeat against the Saginaw Spirit and a close 3-2 loss to the Barrie Colts. Players to watch for the Firebirds include Alex Kostov, who picked up two assists against the Barrie Colts, and Jimmy Lombardi, who had an assist in both games on the weekend.

UP NEXT
The Otters will hit the road again next week for a three-in-four trip.
For the first and only time, the Otters will head to North Bay and battle the Batallion on Thursday. They’ll take to the road immediately after and play the Sudbury Wolves the very next day. After a day of rest on Saturday, the Otters will head to Brampton to play the Steelheads for the second week in a row.
Erie won’t return home until December 14 for Winter Wonderland Night.
