Otters Trade Bernard to Spitfires for Russett
Erie, Pennsylvania – Erie Otters General Manager Dave Brown announced today that the team has traded goaltending prospect Jackson Bernard to the Windsor Spitfires in exchange for forward prospect Reid Russett.
Russett was selected by the Spitfires 30th overall in the second round of the 2018 Ontario Hockey League U18 Priority Selection. The 6-foot, 171-pound forward is currently suiting up for the Smiths Falls Bears in the Central Canada Hockey League where the Ottawa, Ontario native has posted 16 points (4G-12A) in 33 games played.
Bernard, a 5-foot-11, 165-pound goaltender, was drafted by the Otters 300th overall in the 15th round of the 2017 OHL Priority Selection. The Huntly, Illinois native began the 2018-19 campaign with the North American Hockey League’s Chippewa Steel before joining the LaSalle Vipers of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League. The 17-year-old has appeared in seven games with the Vipers holding a 4-2 record with a 3.63 goals against average and an .822 save percentage.
