WHO TO WATCH
Malcolm Spence is a force to be reckoned with on the ice. In his second year as alternate captain, Spence already has 11 points on the season (3G+8A). In the last two games, Malcolm Spence picked up four points in the form of two goals and two assists. Against the Firebirds, Spence cracked open the game to put the Otters up 1-0 late in the first period, and then would go on to assist the game-winner and score the insurance goal himself. On Sunday against the Knights, Spence had an assist on the only Otters’ goal of the night.
With the first under his belt, Lucas Ambrosio will no doubt start to rake in those points. At home against the Kingston Frontenacs, the rookie notched his first goal of his OHL career. Just over a minute and a half into the first frame, Ambrosio struck gold to propel the Otters to a 2-1 overtime victory.
KNOW THE FOE
The Barrie Colts will go into Thursday on a three-game win streak, beating the Brampton Steelheads, the Owen Sound Attack, and the Ottawa 67s. The Colts only have two losses on the season so far, coming from the North Bay Battalion and the London Knights. Players to watch for the Colts include Dalyn Wakley, the recently-acquired veteran center with four goals and two assists in his last four games, and the sophomore center Riley Patterson, who has three points (2G+1A) in the last two games to contribute to Barrie’s win streak.
The Kitchener Rangers have won their last four games going into Friday’s matchup against the Otters. Most notably, they downed the Saginaw Spirit 7-4 and beat the Guelph Storm 3-2 in a shootout. Players to watch for the Rangers include Adrian Misaljevic, who picked up seven points (3G+4A) in the last four games for the Rangers, and Trent Swick, with two goals and two assists throughout the current Rangers’ win streak.
