BOUCHARD AND THOMAS COMMIT TO KNIGHTS

General Manager Basil McRae announced today that the London Knights first two picks in the 2015 OHL Priority Selection, defenseman Evan Bouchard and forward Robert Thomas, have committed to and entered into Ontario Hockey League Standard Player’s Agreements with the London Knights. 

Bouchard, the Knights first round selection (17th overall), was a member of the Oakville Rangers last season.  The 6’1.5” 175lbs offensive defenseman led his team in scoring with 31 points (18 goals, 13 assists) in 35 games played.  The Oakville, Ontario native served as an assistant captain with Oakville last season.

Bouchard had an exceptional tournament when competing at the 2015 OHL Gold Cup in Kitchener earlier this month.  He was awarded the tournament’s Top Scorer (11 points, 5 goals, 6 assists) in just 5 games played and had a 6 point final game (3 goals, 3 assists) for Team OMHA White. 

Thomas, an Aurora, Ontario native, was the Knights second round selection (26^th overall) this year.  In 34 games played with the York Simcoe Express last season, the gifted playmaker scored a team-leading 45 points (18 goals, 27 assists).  In 4 games played at the 2015 OHL Cup Showcase tournament in March, the 5’9” 165lbs centreman, who also served as an assistant captain with the Express, led his team in scoring with 5 points (3 goals, 2 assists).

Competing on Team OMHA White at the 2015 OHL Gold Cup with Bouchard, Thomas finished the tournament with 6 points (4 goals, 2 assists) in 5 games played and tied for 8th in tournament scoring.

Both Bouchard and Thomas will join the London Knights in late August for training camp.  Bouchard will wear #2 and Thomas will wear #27 for the team next season.
