Denver Barkey
Denver Barkey, who leads the green and gold in points and is seventh league-wide with 44, dished three assists against the Attack in his return from Canadian World Junior Selection Camp, extending his point streak to six games in which he has totalled 13. It was the Philadelphia Flyers prospect’s third consecutive multi-point performance and 12th of the year.
With Easton Cowan and Kasper Halttunen absent from the forward group due to the World Junior Championships, Barkey is on a line with Jacob Julien and Ruslan Gazizov. The trio combined for a remarkable 12 points on Friday night, proving that this temporary, younger lineup, shouldn’t be taken lightly.
Sudbury Wolves – 16-11-2-1
The Sudbury Wolves, who beat London 9-2 in their first matchup of the season, had their three-game winning streak snapped by the Saginaw Spirit on Saturday night but are looking to sweep the season series against the Knights on Sunday.
Player to Watch
Quentin Musty
A 78-point sophomore season in 2022-23 helped solidify Quentin Musty as a top prospect at the NHL Draft last June. Selected by the San Jose Sharks 26th overall, the New York native, despite only participating in 19 contests this year, has 14 goals and 37 points for the Wolves. The 6-foot-2 left-winger’s seven-game point streak was put to rest by the Spirit. In that span, Musty has six multi-point performances and 22 points.
Standings
With Guelph winning on Saturday, London slides down to third in the Midwest Division with 39 points. Meanwhile, the Wolves sit second in the Central Division with 35 points, one behind the Mississauga Steelheads.
Head-to-Head
Last season, London was victorious in both games versus Sudbury but dropped the first meeting earlier this season.
Can the Knights extend their winning streak to three?
