Halttunen, Barkey, lead Knights to 2-0 series lead

LONDON, Ont. – Kasper Halttunen scored a hat-trick, and Denver Barkey had a four-point outing as the London Knights annihilated the Oshawa Generals 9-1 in Game 2 of the OHL Championship Series to take a 2-0 series lead.
Halttunen, a San Jose Sharks prospect, buried two power-play goals, one at even strength, and dished an assist for a four-point game. The Finnish winger leads the Knights (14-2-0) with 12 goals this postseason and has 20 points.
Barkey notched three assists and found the back of the net to extend his point streak to four games. Through 16 playoff appearances, the Philadelphia Flyers prospect has 22 points on five goals and 17 assists.
Easton Cowan extended his goal and point streak to five games with a three-point performance, while Oliver Bonk registered three assists to give himself five points in his last two contests.
Ruslan Gazizov, Jacob Julien, Evan Van Gorp, and Max McCue, who scored a highlight reel “Michigan” goal, rounded out the scoring for London. Meanwhile, Ben Danford scored the lone goal for Oshawa (12-5-2).
Michael Simpson, who was replaced for precautionary reasons by Owen Willmore with 10 minutes to play, made 16 saves in the win, while Willmore stopped all five shots he faced. Jacob Oster allowed eight goals and saved 25 shots before being pulled for Noah Bender, who turned away five of six shots.
The series now shifts to Oshawa for Game 3 on Monday night.
