Offensive Outburst Leads IceDogs to Victory
Four point nights from Josh Ho-Sang and Carter Verhaeghe lifted the Niagara IceDogs to a 7-4 win over the Peterborough Petes Thursday night in Peterborough.
The first period was an entertaining one, with each team scoring four times. Brendan Perlini scored his fourth goal in as many games to open the scoring and Graham Knott made it 2-0 with a power play goal less than a minute later. Goals by Michael Clarke, Adam Timleck and a pair by Josh MacDonald gave the Petes a 4-2 lead. Brent Moran came in to replace Brandon Hope after the fourth goal. Knott added his second goal of the game and Vince Dunn scored at 17:25 to cap off a wild opening 20 minutes.
The second period continued where the first left off, as Aaron Haydon wired a point shot past Petes goaltender Dylan Wells just 30 seconds in.
Another early goal just 1:26 into the third period by Josh Ho-Sang gave the IceDogs a 6-4 lead. The goal was Ho-Sang fourth point of the night. Brian Brosnan added an empty netter to give the IceDogs a big win over the Petes.
Moran stopped all 16 shots he faced after coming in for Hope in the first period.
The IceDogs are right back at it tomorrow night, when they host the Oshawa Generals at the Meridian Centre.
