IceDogs Set to Host Steelheads Tonight at 7:00
The Niagara IceDogs are looking to collect two points tonight as they host the visiting Mississauga Steelheads for a 7:00 puck drop at the Meridian Centre. Tonight marks the second of six meetings between these two teams as Mississauga leads the season series 1-0.
The IceDogs feature veteran forward Johnny Corneil this evening. Corneil was fortunate enough to score the coveted Teddy Bear Toss goal in Thursday’s game vs. Sault Ste. Marie. Thursday’s goal marked his 8th of the season to go along with 23 points in 29 games thus far.
The Steelheads feature forward Owen Tippett. Known for putting the puck in the net, Tippett enters tonight’s game with 23 goals in 29 games. Further proving his offensive capabilities, Tippett leads the OHL in shots on goal with 148. A former 4th overall pick by the Steelheads in 2015, Tippett uses his 6’2″ frame to fend off opponents, especially low in the offensive zone. Look to IceDogs captain Ryan Mantha to be a factor in shutting him down.
