IceDogs Acquire Sobolev From The Windsor Spitfires
NIAGARA, ON – The Niagara IceDogs have completed a trade with the Windsor Spitfires, acquiring Daniil Sobolev in exchange for 3 draft picks.

- 15th round pick (NIA) 2025
- Conditional 4th round pick (FLNT) 2025
- Conditional 8th round pick (NIA) 2025
Sobolev, a 2003 born defenceman from St. Petersburg, Russia, was drafted 40th overall by the Windsor Spitfires in the 2020 CHL Import Draft. Sobolev would go on to play two seasons with the Spitfires amassing a total of 138 games played across the OHL regular season and OHL playoffs. Sobolev would suit up in 24 of Windsor’s 25 playoff games during their run to the OHL Championship in 2022.

In addition, Sobolev would also see his name called by the Montreal Canadians during the 2021 NHL Entry Draft, as he was selected in the 5th round, 142nd overall. Over his two seasons in the OHL the 6’1, 217 lbs defenceman has tallied 26 points across 110 regular season OHL games.
