IceDogs 2015 Rookie Orientation Day a Success!
The Niagara IceDogs hosted their Rookie Orientation day this past Saturday, May 30th.
The day started off with the draft picks and their families travelling to the Meridian Centre for a tour of the IceDogs home rink and was followed by a trip to Governor Simcoe Secondary School where they toured the school the IceDogs high school students attend. In addition, while at the school, the players and their families had a chance to have a Q & A period with IceDogs billet coordinator Jill Saxton who helped answer their questions regarding the billeting process.
After the tour, everyone headed to Ridley College where everyone was greated by a fantastic surprise with head coach and general manager Marty Williamson having gotten out of the hospital in time to be waiting there to surprise everyone with a quick appearance. While at Ridley, the players participated in a one hour on-ice session with the IceDogs coaching staff giving fans their first chance to see the IceDogs 2015 OHL Priority Selections in person.
Once the on-ice session was complete, the day concluded with a BBQ for the draft picks’ families and IceDogs staff at JJ Kapps.
Saturday was a chance for the IceDogs to help show off the strength of their organization and our amazing fan support is a big part of that! We thank everyone that took the time on Saturday to help welcome the draft picks and their families to Niagara whether it was with a wave and a honk or by coming out in person to see the picks in action at Ridley College.
