Game Preview: Niagara vs Mississauga

The IceDogs and Steelheads aren’t looking to make nice this afternoon despite having a date with one another on Valentine’s Day. These teams have split two wins a piece so far this year and each side will be looking to take over the season series before their final showdown to wrap up the season on March 20. 

Both Niagara and Mississauga would appear to be a lock for the post-season. There is still quite a bit of time remaining in the season to see a great deal of movement in the Central Division standings as the IceDogs are currently tied with North Bay with 60 points, while the Steelheads only trail the pack by four.

Players to Watch

Fans will want to keep an eye out for Steelheads centreman Michael McLeod in this one. The 17 year old Mississauga, ON native is projected to be a top ten draft pick in this years NHL Entry Draft. Having improved greatly in his second year in the OHL, McLeod has 56 points in 50 games played thus far and will be looking to net his 20th of the season against the division rival IceDogs. 

Josh Ho-Sang’s numbers are virtually identical to where he was last year at this point in the season. In 49 games with Niagara in the ’14-15 season, Ho-Sang had 14 goals, 48 assists, and 38 penalty minutes. As it currently stands, the New York Islanders prospect has 16 goals, 46 assists, and 38 penalty minutes through 50 games played. The offensive playmaker will be looking to make an impact with his speed and soft hands in this game as the IceDogs continue to look at solidifying a playoff position.
