Wolves Take Control and Defeat IceDogs
SUDBURY, ON – Kevin He extends his team lead in goals (25) as the IceDogs fall in back-to-back nights.
Final Score: SBY 6 – NIA 1
Starting Goaltenders: Charlie Robertson (Niagara) – Jakub Vondras (Sudbury)
It would be an ugly start to this one for the IceDogs, coming out flat in the opening period. The Wolves would find the back of the net three times during the frame, including a powerplay marker. The IceDogs were also unable to create much offense of their own, as they managed only three shots in the period.
Despite a new period and fresh start, it wouldn’t get any better for the IceDogs as the Wolves would find their fourth goal off of the stick of Evan Konyen. The Wolves would be then awarded a five minute powerplay after a lengthy review deemed Masen Wray had slew footed the Wolves player. This play will result in an automatic two game suspension for Wray. The Wolves would score early on the lengthy powerplay. However, they would only manage one as the IceDogs penalty kill came up strong for the remainder of the Wolves powerplay.
The final frame would provide some positives for the IceDogs as Kevin He was able to find the back of the net for his team leading 25th goal of the season. Reigning Cogeco OHL player of the Week, Gavin Bryant, would pick up the primary assist on the goal with Ryan VanNetten getting credit with the secondary assist. The Wolves would tack on one more with 20 seconds remaining in the game.
