Six IceDogs Attending NHL Rookie Camps
Six of your Niagara IceDogs have been invited to attend NHL rookie camps, beginning this week. Rookie camps begin prior to the start of NHL training camps, where drafted or free agent invites have the opportunity to showcase their talents while participating in practices, and playing against other teams.
Matthew Philip has been invited to attend the Arizona Coyote rookie camp. Having showcased an impressive prospects camp this past July in Arizona as a free agent, Philip has garnered the attention of Niagara Region native, and Coyotes General Manager, John Chayka and his management staff.
After attending Detroit’s prospect camp over the summer, Oliver Castleman will be participating in the Traverse City rookie camp with the Red Wings.
Recently appointed captain of your 2017-2018 IceDogs, Johnny Corneil, has been invited to attend the Vancouver Canucks’ rookie camp, taking place in Penticton, B.C. this week.
Fresh off of being drafted in June, Ben Jones will be attending the Vegas Golden Knights’ inaugural rookie camp this week.
Another recently drafted forward, Kirill Maksimov, will be attending Edmonton’s rookie camp. He will face off against IceDogs’ teammate Johnny Corneil as the Canucks and Oilers rookies play each other in Penticton.
Stephen Dhillon is heading to St Louis, as he partakes in the Blues’ rookie camp this week. Dhillon will be joining Castleman in Traverse City, although they will not have the chance to play each other until the playoff rounds at the end of camp.
The Niagara IceDogs would like to wish Matthew, Oliver, Johnny, Ben, Kirill, and Stevie the best of luck this week at their respective rookie camps!
