IceDogs Season Concludes on the Road in Game Five vs Barrie
NIAGARA, ON – The Niagara IceDogs never gave up on Thursday night, but ultimately fell 6-3 to the Barrie Colts in Game Five, ending their first-round playoff series 4-1 in the best-of-seven matchup.
Despite the early pressure from Barrie, Niagara refused to go away quietly. After falling behind 5-0 through two periods, the IceDogs came alive in the third, delivering an inspired comeback attempt.
Ryan Roobroeck continued his standout postseason with a pair of goals just minutes apart to breathe life into the home side. His first came on the power play at 3:53, hammering home a setup from Braidy Wassilyn and Matthew Virgilio. Roobroeck followed up with his second goal of the game at 7:23, finishing off a crisp passing play with Virgilio and captain Andrei Loshko.
The IceDogs kept pressing, and at 13:03, Braidy Wassilyn brought the game within two goals with his first of the playoffs, trimming the lead to just two. Kevin He and Jack Brauti picked up the helpers on the play, as Niagara showed resilience and character right to the final horn.
While Barrie added an empty-netter late to seal the result, the IceDogs’ third-period surge was a testament to the group’s never-quit mentality — something they’ve displayed all season long.
As the curtain falls on the 2024-25 campaign, Niagara can take pride in a young core that gained invaluable playoff experience. With standout performances from Ryan Roobroeck, a rising star, and strong contributions from rookies and veterans alike, the future is bright for the IceDogs.
Thank you, IceDogs fans, for your unwavering support all season long. This team will be back, hungrier and stronger.
