IceDogs Fall to 67’s in Nailbiter
NIAGARA, ON – The Niagara IceDogs fell to (29-29-4-4) on the season after a 2-1 loss to the Ottawa 67’s on Thursday night.
Niagara got off to a great start in this one, capitalizing on an early 4-on-3 power play chance. This man-advantage was capped off with an Alex Assadourian snipe to make it 1-0 IceDogs less than 4 minutes into regulation.
The second period of action was a feisty one from both sides, with a combined 30 minutes of penalties – including a Mike Levin 10-minute misconduct at 12:14.
Unfortunately, Ottawa was able to take advantage, scoring the only two goals in the second frame of action to give the 67’s the lead heading into the third period.
Headed into a pivotal third period of play, both teams sensed the moment and wanted the critical next goal. However, it was not meant to be for Niagara as the final horn sounded with 2-1 still on the scoreboard for Ottawa.
Owen Flores shined in this one, giving the IceDogs a chance to win with 33 saves tonight.
Niagara will continue their homestand tomorrow, March 21st, when they face the North Bay Battalion at Meridian Centre at 7:00 PM.
