IceDogs Can’t Get on Track Against 67’s
OTTAWA, ON – The Niagara IceDogs fell to (27-21-3-4) on the season, after a 6-2 loss to the Ottawa 67’s on Friday night.
The IceDogs unfortunately did not start out overly positively in this one, surrendering three goals in just under eight minutes of game time.
Niagara was able to respond a few minutes later, with a goal from Mike Levin at 13:59 – after a nice move from defenceman Jack Brauti to set up the goal, also assisted by captain Kevin He.
The second period featured back-and-forth action, with close calls on both ends of the ice. It was the 67’s who found the touch scoring-wise in the second frame, however, scoring two more goals to make it 5-1 Ottawa prior to the second stanza coming to a close.
The third and final frame couldn’t have started better for Niagara, as Alex Assadourian scored a short-handed marker just 41 seconds into the period to cut the 67’s lead down to just three.
Niagara’s early period momentum unfortunately fizzled out after the early goal, as no further progress was made towards closing the gap on the scoreboard – with the final ending up 6-2 Ottawa.
The IceDogs will look to get back into the win column on a quick turnaround tomorrow on Saturday, February 22nd against the Kingston Frontenacs at Slush Puppie Place at 4:00 PM.
