GAME RECAP | IceDogs Fall to 67’s, return to action tomorrow in Kingston
The Niagara IceDogs were back in action this afternoon for a matinee game in the Nation’s Capital, following the Holiday break. The ‘Dogs came into this game with points in each of their past 8 games, including 7 wins and one overtime loss. In the first meeting between these two teams, the IceDogs fell to the 67’s by a score of 3-2 at home.
The first period ended in a scoreless draw, with some of the IceDogs best offensive opportunities coming in the later minutes of the opening frame. Philip Tomasino was left alone to the left of the goaltender, and had him beat, but he couldn’t beat the post.
In the final minutes of the second period, the 67s broke the score, taking a 1-0 lead into the 3rd period.
Two minutes into the third period, Phil Tomasino potted his 15th of the season to tie the game up at 1 after being fed by Andrew Bruder entering the zone on a 2 on 1. Shortly thereafter, Ottawa re-gained their lead and extended it to 3-1 with less than than 10 minutes to play. Ottawa added another tally to take this one 4-1.
