Game Preview: Niagara vs Ottawa (Game 3)
Niagara hits the road this afternoon for Game 3 against Ottawa in the Eastern Conference Quarter Finals. The IceDogs have displayed their top-tier talent through the first two games of this series, taking both home-games and heading into Ottawa looking for two more victories.
Game 2 of the series showed everyone that “down but not out” is a phrase the IceDogs firmly believe in as they exploded for four goals in the third period, finishing the game with a 5-3 victory. The final dagger in the 67’s heart was courtesy of Josh Ho-Sang who scored the game-winning goal midway through the third. Brendan Perlini added the insurance marker, his second goal of the game, thanks to assists from captain Anthony DiFruscia and Jordan Maletta.
Offensive Explosion
Offense has been the last of the IceDogs’ worries in this series as the team has put up five goals in each of the two games played. The team is clicking just at the right time as they get closer and closer to moving on to the Conference Semi-Finals and will look to do so this week by taking two more games in Ottawa. Josh Ho-Sang has led the way for Niagara, putting up five points in two games, while also being named the first star of said games. Ho-Sang’s great start sees him tied for fourth in playoff points.
Players to Watch
Nathan Todd has been the bright side to an otherwise dire start to the postseason for Ottawa. The Kemptville, ON native has contributed one way or another on over half of the 67’s goals by putting up five points in two appearances. Todd contributed two assists in Game 2 of this series and is one point removed from tying his career best in playoff production.
Pavel Jenys has been an impact player for the IceDogs as of late. Jenys has points in five straight games dating back to the regular season, amassing eight points in that time. Not only has he been finding the back of the net but he has been preventing the opposition from doing the same. The solid two-way play of Jenys has earned him a +4 rating through his past five apperances.
