Joey Costanzo Commits to IceDogs
Niagara, ON – Niagara IceDogs General Manager Joey Burke is proud to announce that 2021 OHL Priority Selection 23rd overall pick Joey Costanzo has signed a Standard Player Agreement, committing to the team. The 6’1″ goaltender played the past two seasons with the Greater Toronto Hockey League’s (GTHL) Toronto Marlboros AAA.
Costanzo was regarded as the top goaltender of the 2005-born draft class. His composure and height in the crease have been considered intimidating to oncoming shooters. Technically, Costanzo is a strong netminder. His size, awareness and character off the ice make him a well-rounded goalie that can make the transition to the OHL level seamlessly. He has compared his playing style to that of Andrei Vasilevskiy and Marc-André Fleury.

GM Burke announced the signing earlier today, saying “This is a big signing for us. Joey is the goalie we wanted and had he not gotten to us, it would have changed the landscape of our entire draft.
“As a staff, we feel he has the ability to be a star in our league. As we all know, you need a top goalie to succeed at this level. I truly feel we have added our future starter, and a guy capable of winning championships here. We couldn’t be more excited to add Joey to the IceDogs officially!”
“I’m thrilled to officially join the IceDogs family.” added Costanzo.
