Gens take on Wolves for last regular season game and chance to clinch Conference title
Oshawa, Ont., – The Oshawa Generals return home to take on the Sudbury Wolves in the last regular season game of the OHL season as East Division Champs and possibly Eastern Conference Champs.
After taking down the Kitchener Rangers, the Gens clinched first place in the Division. It was a slow start to the season for Oshawa, but around the halfway point they found their groove and have been red hot. With a North Bay Battalion loss or if the Generals pick up a single point, they will finish the season first in the Eastern Conference.
Sudbury enters this one coming off a big win against the Barrie Colts 13-4 as they battle for home-ice advantage in the first round. Currently, the Wolves sit fourth in the Eastern Conference, but a lot is up in the air entering the last game.
Last Meeting
It has only been nine days since these two teams have faced off and it was the Generals coming out on top 8-5.
The Gens came out of the gates strong scoring four goals in the first period as Connor Lockhart, Beckett Sennecke, Dylan Roobroeck, and Stuart Rolofs each found the back of the net.
In the second period, it was a back-and-forth affair as Sudbury got on the board, but Roobroeck answered with his second of the game. The Wolves would add another later in the period to make it 5-2.
Oshawa would score two in a row to start the third as Luca Marrelli found the back of the net and Sennecke added his second before the Wolves scored again. In the last five minutes, Rasmus Kumpulainen got on the scoreboard, and to end the game Sudbury would score with 19 seconds to go.
