Gens close out road trip with a perfect sweep
Oshawa, Ont., – The Oshawa Generals close out their weekend road trip with a 6-2 victory as they took down the Sudbury Wolves.
Four Generals picked up multiple points including Dylan Roobroeck and Beckett Sennecke who both had a goal and a pair of assists, while Jacob Oster stopped 21 of the 23 shots that he faced on his way to the win.
The Sudbury Wolves opened the scoring early in the first period after a point shot from Noah Van Vliet generated a rebound Dalibor Dvorsky was there to jump on the rebound and tap it in making it 1-0 Wolves. Later in the first, the Gens would answer as Connor Lockhart took a pass from Rasmus Kumpulainen before firing a shot on net that found its way through the Wolves goalie tying the game at 1-1. Before the end of the period Sudbury jumped back in front after a blocked shot fell on the stick of Andre Anania the defenceman fired a shot that beat Oster making it 2-1 Wolves.
In the second period, Oshawa would once again tie the game up when Sennecke took a shot creating a rebound for Calum Ritchie who took a shot that found the back of the net tying the game up at 2-2.
To start the third period, Sennecke was sprung on a breakaway and before he could get a shot, he was hauled down, drawing a penalty shot coming in slow and calculated the draft eligible winger buried the attempt giving the Gens their first lead of the game at 3-2 Oshawa.A little while later the Gens would double their lead, as Roobroeck took as he entered the zone, the big forward made a nice pass to Ritchie on the backdoor for an easy tap in making it 4-2 Generals. Less than two minutes later that lead would grow again when Luca D’Amato had a point shot that came back to him firing another shot that Tyler Graham redirected it past the Sudbury goalie for a 5-2 Oshawa lead. In the last minute of the game, it was Roobroeck taking a shot from his own end that found the back of the net making it 6-2 Oshawa.
