Generals look to gain fifth straight win against Peterborough
Oshawa, Ont., – It is the last game before the Christmas break as the Oshawa Generals take on rivals the Peterborough Petes.
The Generals are playing some of their best hockey season as the team rides a four-game win streak. Over that span, the offence has been clicking on all cylinders scoring 23 goals and outscoring their opponents by 14.
With this recent form of play, the team has climbed out of the bottom of the East Division and sit just two points behind the Petes with a game in hand.
Peterborough comes into this one on the opposite end of the spectrum. The Petes have been fluttering dropping each of their last three games while they are 2-8 over their last 10 games.
With the World Junior Championship approaching both teams are missing important players as each team’s leading scorer is away. The Generals are down Rasmus Kumpulainen who has 27 points in 27 games while the Petes are down Owen Beck who has 30 points in 25 games.
Last Meeting
It was one to forget last time out as the Generals blew a five-goal lead dropping the game 6-5 in overtime.
It was a start only an Oshawa fan could draw up as the Gens came out and scored five goals in the first. Both Rasmus Kumpulainen and Beckett Sennecke found the net twice while Calum Ritchie had a goal and an assist.
After the first, it was all Petes scoring six unanswered including the overtime winner. Beck was the catalyst of the comeback scoring a hattrick and adding an assist, while it was the Petes Captain Donavon McCoy scoring the winner and adding three helpers.
