Generals bring 4 points home after Michigan swing
Oshawa, Ont., – For their second and final regular season meeting, the Oshawa Generals are returning home after closing out their Michigan trip with a 3-1 win against the Saginaw Spirit.
Right out of the gate, Generals forward Beckett Sennecke opened the scoring after only one and a half minutes of play after a centring feed from linemate Dylan Roobroeck after Luke Torrance won a corner battle.
That quick start seemed to be just what the Generals needed to continue their momentum immediately as Connor Lockhart secured his 19th of the season with a one-man advantage. A touch pass from Luca Marrelli and a one-timer right through traffic brought the Generals up by two just five minutes into the game.
To wrap up the first, defenceman Luca D’Amato takes a patient walk into the slot and makes it 3-0 with 29 seconds left on the clock.
Saginaw answered late in the second period with about two and a half minutes remaining when Calem Mangone deflected a long shot from Zayne Parekh at the point, bringing the score to 3-1.
With a slower third period and some even zone entries, the Generals secured the upper hand with captain Stuart Rolofs bringing the score up to 4-1 with 5:24 to go after the hard work Lockhart put in to gain possession. Just a minute later, Calum Ritchie wasted no time following his prior five-assist night with a one-timer straight into the mesh putting the Generals up by five.
The Generals will take these four points home and use their week to prep as they approach a 3-game weekend, starting with a face-off in Kingston on Friday.
