WEDNESDAY NIGHT HOCKEY AT THE BMC
The Barrie Colts welcomed the Sudbury Wolves to the BMC Wednesday night as they were looking to extend their winning streak to three games with a couple of additions in their lineup.
Ryan O’Connor scored in his return to Barrie but it wasn’t enough as the Wolves beat the Colts for the fourth time this season.
Joshua Leivo scored the tying goal and added an empty net goal as he was named the first star of the game. Kontos, Silk and Schutt also scored for Sudbury who move within two points of Barrie.
Steven Beyers scored a pair of goals for Barrie, including a short-handed beauty. Anthony Camara recorded an assist in his Barrie debut.
Beyers lit the lamp mid way through the first on a great outlet pass from Erik Bradford.
Later in the period the Colts lost their starting goalie Mathias Niederberger who was replaced by rookie Alex Fotinos.
The Wolves scored two goals 4:15 apart in the second period to get themselves on the board.
Goals by Kontos and Silk were sandwiched around an O’Connor point shot that beat Vienneau off the post and in.
Beyers’ short-handed third period goal gave Barrie a 3-2 lead but then the Wolves scored three unanswered for the 5-3 win.
The Colts are off until Saturday when they host the London Knights.
