SCHEIFELE TO PLAY IN TOP PROSPECT’S GAME
Barrie forward Mark Scheifele has been selected to play in the CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game to be played January 19th at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto.
The 17-year old Kitchener product sits second in team scoring with nine goals and 26 assists for 35 points in 34 games, and is third in scoring among Ontario Hockey League rookies, trailing Sarnia’s Nail Yakupov and Windsor’s Alexander Khokhlachev.
From November 13th to December 2nd, Scheifele recorded points in eight straight games, finishing with three goals and 12 assists in that span.
The NHL ranked the 6’3″ center as the 19th best player among draft eligible skaters in the OHL.
Scheifele was originally acquired from the Saginaw Spirit in exhcange for goalie Mavric Parks.
