JET GREAVES SIGNS AHL CONTRACT
The entire Barrie Colts organization wishes to congratulate goaltender, Jet Greaves, on signing a two-year contract with the Cleveland Monsters of the American Hockey League (AHL) starting in the 2021/2022 season.
Greaves, who played his entire OHL career with the Colts, earned a 20-27-5 record, a 3.71 goals-against average, a .899 save percentage, and three shutouts.
Originally selected 56th overall in the 2017 OHL Priority Selection Draft from the Cambridge Hawks U16 program, Jet went on to play one season in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League (GOJHL) before joining the Colts for the 2018/2019 season.
Greaves went on to earn his first career OHL win in only his second OHL appearance on October 12th, 2018, in a 4-1 victory at Sudbury while also capturing the First Star of The Game for his performance. Jet captured the CHL Vaughn Goalie of The Week honour for the week of Jan. 28 – Feb. 3 for his effort in back-to-back 50-save efforts at London (Feb.1st, 3-2 shootout loss) and at home vs Mississauga the following night (Feb. 2nd, 3-1 win). Jet finished his impressive rookie season by being named to the OHL’s First All-Rookie Team – the first Colts player to earn this honour since Mackenzie Blackwood in 2013-14.
Greaves started the 2019/2020 season off strong by recording his second OHL career shutout in his first appearance of the season in a 3-0 victory at North Bay on September 20th, 2019. Jet went on to earn his OHL career-high 62 saves in a 4-1 loss vs Owen Sound on January 15th, 2020 – later being recognized as one of the Top Nine CHL Performances by Sam Cosentino of SportsNet in February 2020.
“Jet has shown a tremendous amount of growth in his game, along with being an incredible teammate and community member during his time in Barrie. We are very happy to see Jet earn a pro-opportunity with the Columbus Blue Jackets organization and look forward to following his career in the future” said Barrie Colts Assistant GM, Rob Stewart.
The entire Barrie Colts organization would like to thank Jet for his time in Barrie and wish him the best of luck with all of his future endeavours.
