BARRIE VS SUDBURY
The Barrie Colts were hosting the Sudbury Wolves Thursday night for the final time this regular season and are now one step closer to evening the season-series after a convincing 7-0 win.
The Colts scored four times in the first period to pace themselves to back-to-back wins.
It took Barrie just 15 seconds to beat Joel Vienneau, who was between the pipes for the Wolves. Anthony Camara tipped in a Ryan O’Connor shot from the point, Zach Hall also assisted on Camara’s 12th of the season.
Mark Scheifele then extended the lead to 2-0, unassisted at the 6:52 mark.
Roughly ten minutes later it was Colts leading scorer Tanner Pearson notching his 36th of the season from Scheifele and Ivan Telegin.
21 seconds later Daniel Erlich scored his sixth from Hall and Beyers to make it 4-0 Barrie after the first period.
The onslaught kept coming in the second period as the Colts punched home another three goals to make it 7-0 after 40 minutes.
Mid way through the second it was Aaron Ekblad scoring his tenth from Beyers and Pearson on the power play.
Just under four minutes later Scheifele scored his second of the night and 22nd of the year from Ekblad and Beyers.
Finally, at the 17:47 mark Anthony Camara scored his second of the contest from Erlich and Hall to make it a touchdown for the Colts.
Mathias Niederberger stopped all 29 shots he faced for his third shut out of the season.
Barrie is off on Friday and hosts the Belleville Bulls on Saturday.
