BRAMPTON DUMPS BARRIE 5-2
The Barrie Colts finished out the regular season in disappointing fashion Saturday night against the Brampton Battalion.
Brampton out-shot Barrie 45-17 and defeated the Colts by a score of 5-2.
The Colts have clinched third place and will play the Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors in the first round of the playoffs starting Thursday night at the BMC.
Anthony Camara opened the scoring midway through the first period with his third goal in the last two games. Tanner Pearson and Ivan Telegin assisted on Camara’s 16th of the year.
Sam Carrick would tie the game before the first period came to a close with his first of two on the night.
The teams exchanged short-handed goals in the second period starting with Pearson’s 37th of the campaign from Telegin at 8:14.
Three minutes later Carrick scored his 36th of the year, also shorthanded to tie the game at two.
Mitchell Porowski scored the game-winner at the 13:47 mark of the middle period.
Brampton added a pair of power play goals in the third to make the final 5-2.
Brampton set the tone in the first period by out-shooting Barrie 21-3.
The Battalion have now wrapped up fourth place in the conference and will host the Sudbury Wolves in round one of the post-season.
The Colts were without Colin Behenna, who was honoured along with Norm Ezekiel and Daniel Erlich in a pre-game ceremony. Barrie also rested Mark Scheifele, Steven Beyers and Zach Hall.
