Frontenacs beat Colts on the Road
The Barrie Colts were on the road tonight taking on the Kingston Frontenacs in the first of two weekend road games.
In the first period it was Kingston striking first, with exceptional status forward Shane Wright scoring short-handed. Late in the first period it would be Luke Bignell on the powerplay, bringing the game back to a tie. Jason Willms and Nathan Allensen got the assists.
There was lots of scoring in the second period, starting with three consecutive Kingston goals. Dawson Baker, Kallaway Mercer, and Zayde Wisdom all found the back of the net in the first ten minutes of the frame. Jason Willms would respond with his tenth goal of the season, assisted by Brandt Clarke and Victor Hadfield. A minute later, Dustin Hutton would restore the Frontenacs three goal lead. The Colts powerplay would continue to be dominant though, this time it was NHL draft prospect Tyson Foerster, from Tyler Tucker and Jason Willms. The second period would end with Kingston leading 5-3.
In the third period it was Dawson Baker scoring again for Kingston, and that would be enough to keep the Colts out of it as the Frontenacs skated to a 6-3 win.
Jason Willms had three points in the loss.
The Colts are back in action tomorrow afternoon on the road against the Ottawa 67s.
