Team Blue Claims 3-2 Victory in Annual Blue-White Game
After a couple days off-ice testing and scrimmages it was time for the Barrie Colts annual Blue-White game Thursday night from the BMC in day 3 of training camp. This year it would be Team Blue skating to victory in a 3-2 final.
With many of the returning Colts regulars sitting this one out would provide plenty of ice and opportunity for the upcoming young talent to prove themselves once more for the Colts coaching staff.
The first period would be all Team White, firing 26 shots on Blue’s starting goalie Christian Filipetti who miraculously managed to keep all but one out of the net. Luke Bignell would tally the lone goal of the period giving White the 1-0 lead.
Early in the second period Team Blue would tally a pair of shorthanded goals by Jacob Breckles and Nathaniel Hanley to go up 2-1.
Midway through the second Team White would knot things back up with a goal by Tyson Foerster, right before Payton Schaly would put Blue back in front again.
Into the third, Team White would continue the barrage of shots toward the Blue goal, but Jakob Robillard would hold the fort as the two Blue goalies would combine for 53 saves on the night to give a 3-2 win.
With the Colts beginning its training camp with 64 players, the coaching staff will now look to trim the roster once more before opening its pre-season exhibition schedule.
