The Jet Holds off the Dogs in Thorold
Jet Greaves 24 save shutout and Aidan Browns goal just 52 seconds into the game was all the Barrie Colts needed to hold off the IceDogs in their preseason opener.
Friday night featured the first preseason game for the Barrie Colts as they took on the Niagara IceDogs in Thorold for their 4th annual Thorold Minor Hockey night.
Things were very rough and physical early and often as these two rivals picked things up as they finished in the regular season a year ago. It didn’t take long for the scoring to get started as just 52 seconds into the game, Aidan Brown was able to put one upstairs on Niagara’s goaltender, Jukka Shotter to notch the first goal of the preseason. Down the other end, recently signed Jet Greaves got the start for Barrie and played very strong in the early goings and carried that throughout the rest of the game on route to a 24 save shutout in the 1-0 win.
Barrie is back in action Monday, September 3rd for their annual Labour Day matchup with the Owen Sound Attack. Puck drops at 6pm at the Barrie Molson Centre. They will next be in action the following night in Collingwood, also a 6pm start. Tickets are available online at www.barriecolts.com or at our Barrie Colts store from 9-5pm on Tuesday.
