Colts Acquire T.J. Fergus from the Bulldogs
Barrie, ON– Barrie Colts General Manager & Head Scout Jason Ford announced today that they have completed a trade with the Hamilton Bulldogs
The Barrie Colts acquire overage defenseman T.J. Fergus along with a 4th round pick in 2018 for defenseman Kade Landry.
Fergus, 20 was selected by the Erie Otters in the 8th round (141st overall) in 2013. The 5’11” defenseman from Oakville, ON appeared in 16 games with the Bulldogs this season tallying 1 goal and 3 assists. Fergus was part of the OHL Champions Erie Otters last year and part of their run to the finals of the Memorial Cup. “We are very pleased to be adding a veteran presence on the back end. He brings experience and skill to solidify the defence and our powerplay moving forward” said Colts General Manager and Head Scout Jason Ford. Barrie also acquires Hamilton’s 4th round pick in 2018 in the deal.
The trade sends 2nd year defenseman Kade Landry the other way to the Hamilton Bulldogs. In 17 games this season, the Gowanstown, ON native has registered 3 goals and 11 points. “Kade is a great kid and we wish him all the best with his new club” said Ford.
Hamilton and Barrie don’t meet until February 8th where the Colts are on the road for a school day game in Hamilton.
Barrie is back in action this Thursday for a game against their Central Division rivals Sudbury Wolves. They will then stay home for an afternoon tilt on Saturday against the Kitchener Rangers at 3:30pm that will be airing Nationally on Sportsnet, and they will finish the weekend with a trip to Oshawa on Sunday night.
