QMJHL unveils Raymond-Lagacé Trophy recipient
After announcing the three organizational awards, the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League is now ready to announce its individual award winners. The recipient of the 2019–2020 Raymond-Lagacé Trophy goes to the Defensive Rookie of the Year.
Recipient of the award in 2014–2015, former Shawinigan Cataractes defenseman, and current member of the Colorado Avalanche, Samuel Girard is today’s special presenter. The Roberval native played 190 games in the QMJHL with the Cataractes, scoring 24 goals and adding 168 assists while maintaining an impressive +68 plus/minus rating. He received the Raymond-Lagacé Trophy in his first season in the league after posting 43 points in 64 games with a +15 rating. A second round selection by Nashville in 2016, Girard is playing in his third NHL season.
