Videotron Player of the Week | Jérémie Minville (October 16, 2023)
The latest Videotron Player of the Week in the QMJHL is Gatineau Olympiques winger Jérémie Minville. In four games, the 19-year-old from Drummondville, Quebec scored four goals and added five assists while the Olympiques went 2-1-0-1 on the week.
Last Monday at home, Minville scored once and added a pair of assists as the Olympiques downed the Baie-Comeau Drakkar 6-1. It was the first win and first loss of the season for each club, respectively. For Minville, who finished the game with a +2 rating, it was his first three-point game in the league.
On Thursday night, once again at home, the Olympiques were defeated by the Cape Breton Eagles by a count of 4-3. However, Minville continued to shine, scoring a pair of goals and earning second star accolades for the contest.
Minville would be in more of a giving mood than a receiving one on Friday night in Victoriaville. He would produce a pair of assists on goals just eight seconds apart in the second period. The third-year veteran would also find the back of the net as part of an eight-round shootout in which the Tigres eventually prevailed in a back-and-forth, 5-4 decision.
The Olympiques got back in the win column and Minville remained prominently on the scoresheet on Sunday afternoon in Blainville. His goal with under seven minutes remaining in the second period would prove to be the game-winner. Minville would also add an assist for his fourth straight multi-point outing, as Gatineau defeated the Armada 4-2. For the second time on the week, Minville was named the game’s second star.
Acquired from the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies during the off-season, Minville currently sits tied for sixth in league scoring. His 13 points, piled up in just 11 games, matches his output from all of last season, when Minville appeared in 60 contests.
