Pierre Cholette appointed as new Director of Central Scouting
The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and its Department of Hockey Operations are proud to announce that amateur scout Pierre Cholette has been appointed as Director of the QMJHL Central Scouting (CSR).
Cholette, who has more than 23 years in the scouting field, is leaving a position he has held since 2018 with the NHL Central Scouting to return to the QMJHL central scouting level. He is appointed as Director, replacing Patrick Desrosiers who became the new Head Scout of the Gatineau Olympiques last July, after only one season at the head of the QMJHL Central Scouting.
“I am honoured to accept this new challenge. After working as a scout for the Quebec Remparts from 1997 to 2002 and then becoming the General Manager of the Lévis Commandeurs for two seasons in the Quebec Midget AAA Hockey League, I am honoured to accept this new challenge. After spending the 2004–2005 season as a scout at the CSR, I became the Head Scout of the Victoriaville Tigres for 12 years, from 2005 to 2018. I’ve been around the league since I first got involved in hockey and I am very aware of the role to play and of my new responsibilities. I will do everything I can to meet the expectations of our teams,” said Cholette.
His role includes coordinating nine scouts, five in Quebec and four in the Maritimes. The department’s mandate is to gather as much information as possible and provide the 18 teams with the tools necessary for the scouting process leading up to the next QMJHL draft. Scouting, evaluating, and recruiting the best prospects from Quebec, the four Atlantic provinces and the six New England states are at the heart of this important mandate.
