Islanders add 12 prospects in 2017 QMJHL Draft in Saint John
The 2017 QMJHL Draft is underway at Harbour Station in Saint John.
The Charlottetown Islanders picked 25th overall and selected St. John’s, Newfoundland native, Brett Budgell.
Budgell played with the London Junior Knights of the Minor Midget Ontario League last season and had 25 goals and 31 assists in 31 games.
With the 53rd overall pick, the Islanders selected P.E.I. native RW Brad Morrissey.
Morrisey played last season with the Midget AAA Notre Dame Hounds and had 16 goals, 14 assists in 37 games.
With the 56th overall pick, the Islanders selected D Anotine Leblanc.
Leblanc played last season with College Notre Dame and had 3 goals and 6 assists in 40 games.
With the 66th overall pick, the Islanders selected LW Drew Johnston.
Johnston is a Saint John, New Brunswick native who had 11 goals and 23 assists in 33 games with the Saint John Vito’s.
With the 108th overall pick, the Islanders selected G Nolan Boyd. The Halifax, Nova Scotia played in 18 games with the Dartmouth Steele Subaru, winning 12 of them. He had a 2.73 GAA and a 0.900 SAV %.
With the 131th overall pick, the Islanders selected St. John’s, Newfoundland native D Greg Kehoe.
Kehoe played with the East Coast Blizzard last season and had 3 goals and 11 assists in 32 games.
With the 179th overall pick, the Islanders selected Montague, P.E.I. native Zachary Arsenault.
Arsenault is a defenceman who played with the Kensington Wild last season and had 7 goals and 6 assists in 23 games.
With the 180th overall pick, the Islanders selected C Zachary Beauregard. The Repentigny, Quebec native had 7 goals and 12 assists last season in 40 games with the College Esther-Blondin of the Quebec Midget AAA.
With the 198th overall pick, the Islanders selected RW Connor Lovett. He is a Franklin, MA native who played last season with the Boston U16 Junior Bruins, where he had 18 goals and 21 assists in 40 games.
With the 216th overall pick, the Islanders selected Drew Bennett.
Bennett is a Mount Pearl, NFLD native who played Midget AAA with the East Coast Blizzard last season. He had 21 goals and 33 assists in 32 games.
With the 234th overall pick, the Islanders selected another goaltender. Thomas-Anthony Gale is a Kirkland, QC native who played with Deerfield Academy last season.
